I thought you were a Martian. Good flick by the way, makes me want to read the book. I just saw it yesterday...it made me a bit sad hearing "Starman" having seen Bowie in his "Spiders from Mars" tour in '72 or 73 in Boston. Actually, I think it was called the Ziggy Stardust Tour.

Not sure how the book works after having seen the movie. I read the book first and it's much better (and different!) than the trailers I've seen. All the idiotic flag-waving and emotional drama is not in the book. The book is cool, funny, intelligent, and avoids cliche all the way.

Yes, there was some flag-waving and emotional drama, but in the end it was still a well done movie. My daughter agrees the book was great.

Sure, after all it's a Ridley Scott movie. Even Prometheus, where the plot consisted of nothing but logic failures, somehow manages to feel like a great and lasting experience. The Ridley touch...

Not many directors can make movies as diverse as "Gladiator" and "Alien" and excel in both.
