The filter tags:reference works.

The filter tags:#reference doesn't work. Probably the problem is related with # before reference.

I use tags starting with # and I would appreciate help to know how to apply a color filter for words tagged as #reference

It worked? Interesting, it does not work here. Are you using the latest version?

The only way I can make it work is to tick this:
Configuration > Find Files & Branch View > Find Files > Enable extended pattern matching

Whoops, COLOR FILTERS! Sorry, I thought it was about Find FIles / Quick Search. Well I fixed a similar bug there now.
