MP3 "preview" fails on many MP3s

MP3 preview is a nice feature, but fails on many MP3s which do play with other tested media players (Billy, foobar, Irfanview...)
"loading..." for a half second, then "can not decode" message :-(

Send one of these not decodable files to Don (
support@xyplorer.com) to let him find out why this happens...
Don't forget to tell him on which version you are.

If these files have ID3v2.4 tags then XY will not be able to decode them - Don hasn't found the courage or time to tackle that version yet:

While not a particularly good workaround, you can use the new Preview 2.0 feature to preview MP3s using Windows' preview handler instead of XY's custom previewer. To achieve this you'd need to add MP3 to the
Office Files category in Preview Formats.
Note though that Preview 2.0 is still kind of a work in progress, so there may be some rough edges and more changes to come.

To achieve this you'd need to add MP3 to the Office Files category in Preview Formats.
Works for the current beta without doing this. At least here

That is it. I checked which files play and which won't. For me that means that quite a big chunk of the MP3s will not play...
I do not understand / know what "Preview 2" is. I searched the help file, the internet and especially this forum and did not found it.

Really? I have a bunch of ID3v2.4 tagged mp3s here that play fine in the preview tab and the tags are displayed correctly as well.
Please send me an mp3 that does not work.

Why 15? In 16.10, of course.

Really? How do you know that and why does he do so? (Just talking to myself, no need to answer)

In beta 16.10 it sort of works for me also.
I'm on 16.00.0200 and there some files start to play automatically when they have the focus. The other files will not play at all (error message: decoding error).
In 16.10 all files seem to be able to play now in some sort of embedded "video player", after you press play button for each MP3 (video). This could be a working solution for some I guess, but is not for me. The nice thing about the MP3 "preview" is that the file starts to play immediately without the need to press any extra keys or mouse clicks. If I want to play an MP3 "normal" I just can double click and open it in my default MP3 application anyway. So yes, it works now in some sense and no in another sense ;-)

Thanks, got the files. Both play fine in the Preview tab like all other mp3s, directly on selecting the file in the list.

As discussed in PM this is not the case for me. Will probably be unsolved at the moment, but so that others know it might happen for them too....
For a quick listen into MP3s I can suggest to use the program "Billy" (or depending on the needs) also "1by1 Player".
