Keeping a list of files

What's the right feature to use for this?
I do a simple search (e.g. *.vcxproj in a top-level directory) and want to keep that in a semi-permanent manner. I sort the resulting files by name or by modification time, and drag them to another app or open directory in another tab.
The normal Search Results is overwritten when I do some other kind of searching. I think there are saved searches, queries, flattened views, and what I think was called "paper views" and maybe even more features.
What are ways of accomplishing this?
