How can I activate the new Preview function for PDF files?
In the Preview tab I only see raw preview like in the Raw View tab.
Win 7 64 bit
PDF viewer: PDF-XChange Viewer

Make sure that *.PDF is ticked in Configuration | Previewed Formats | Category | Office Files.

*.pdf is already ticked in Configuration | Previewed Formats | Category | Office Files.
But I had to untick it in Configuration | Previewed Formats | Category | Text Files. There are a lot of formats ticked in "Text Files".
After unticking it in Text Files it works now.
Is there a way to get thumbnails from PDF files?

Sure, should work out of the box. If not then ensure this is ticked: Configuration | Thumbnails | Show thumbnails for non-images

This is already ticked: Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | Show thumbnails for non-images
But I'm getting only this:

- PDF Thumbnail
- ScreenShot-20151216-104156.png (6.97 KiB) Viewed 5509 times

Unfortunately it didn't help. I already have PDF-XChange Viewer installed, added the data into the registry and rebootet. Nothing changed.

Run Nirsoft's ShellExView and check out your thumbnail handlers...

Looks alright to me.
Hmm, in case you are using the thumbnails cache, you already tried this? View | Caches | Refresh Thumbnails

Yes, I'm using the thumbnails cache. But View | Caches | Refresh Thumbnails is grayed out.
After changing a little bit in configuration Refresh Thumbnails is no more grayed out. But Refresh Thumbnails did not help.
