Keyboard shortcuts for categorizing (move, copy, preview)
Posted: 02 Jun 2004 10:30
Tag files using keys. Each key corresponds to a destination folder that you set.
For categorizing files even eyes closed in case of audio, all you gotta do is choose the folder by a tap of a key - not look, point and click. You see how obvious this feature is?
Operation
Select file to listen/view.
Press destination folder key.
Beside the filename, you can see a checkmark/color change next to or on the destination folder key. The file is not copied/moved yet, or optionally, it is.
The next file is automatically selected and played/shown.
One key undo.
Preview selections by playing/showing files that are to be moved/copied to destination 1, then destination 2, etc. You can pause/go backwards and change selections if you've made mistakes.
Display format
Just the key:
Filename.wav 1[X] 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Key and description:
Filename.wav 1 folder name 2 [X] folder name 3 folder name
The keys are freely assignable. I'd use either the first row, numbers or func keys.
For auditory only use lying down with the keyboard, eyes closed:
Double tap the destination folder key or use a modifier with it and a speech synth utters the folder name.
Audio/video preview:
At # secs from the start or end for # secs.
A bit at the beginning, middle and end.
Skipping play: play a few secs, skipping # secs, and so on. Also skipping backwards.
Loop the whole file with adjustable delay between repeats and number of repeats per sound.
Set multiple ranges (loops) per file (keyboard controllable), save loops as new files. Save range settings as
Display example
Filename.avi [-] (collapsible)
loop description 00:45:20 00:46:15 (sortable by time or name)
