Email Dragging

Question: I use Eudora for email. I can drag headers but not contents of emails to XY. I understand that if I use Outlook, I can drag the whole message to a folder? Is that correct? What other email programs, if any, would work with XY? (Any plans for future emails?) The benefit to users is: we can drag intead of invoking Save-As (within email program), correct? Or did I get that wrong? Thanks.

Just to let you know, I am reading Wiki (see link) :
http://88.191.26.34/XYwiki/index.php/Ex ... rag.26Drop
I see from Wiki that the feature does MORE than just a spare us a Save-As. It even NAMES the files...and stuff. I am off to re-read this info....and play with it a bit...

If you can drag emails from Eudora to Explorer then I would consider this an XY bug. Can you?

OMG!!! I do not know how your feature should work (beings I am so new to XY) but I just tested for you and:
I think your feature WORKs with Eudora ??? Maybe??? Here is why:
I did this:
emails CLOSED (only titles showing) -- drag name of email to a tab in XY, a new file is created and named, but only title stuff is within that file.
***********
Example: (I'll include path so u can see it all)
C:\Documents and Settings\brenda\My Documents\DOWNLOADS\0 FROM FRIENDS\DroppedText-20070428.txt

*************
Whereas:
emails OPENED -- select all or any part of email contents and drag to tab in XY - file is created and named appropriately and contents selected are dropped into the file.
*************
Example: (I'll include path so u can see it all)
C:\Documents and Settings\brenda\My Documents\DOWNLOADS\0 FROM FRIENDS\DroppedText-20070428-01.txt

I will go test more things.... I need a drink. I am sick with a cold. I need coffee, too. Maybe I am crazy???? Or too new to realize what I'm doing?? I hope I am not screwing with you or wasting your time, Don. But maybe it works with Eudora Pro? DO YOU NORMALLY SELECT-ALL when you drag emails? <I am a wee bit excited>

Wait. I suspect that the select-all stuff is normal ... standard for XY...and u can drag to anyplace within XY and create a text file (drag contents of emails and other things). Standard stuff using any email and XY.
But probably with OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK EXPRESS, you can drag just the email header and XY will take the entire email, and name it refecting that it's email and not just a text file.
Well anyway: yes, I can drag just the header and it gets named a txt file automatically, as shown in example in prior email.

Yep.
The question is: what happens when you do it in Explorer?

Don, using Windows Explorer nothing happens ....dragging email header OR contents only gets user a circle w/line drawn thru it. (Meaning: no, can't do.) WE doesn't allow any dropping from Eudora.

Okay, then I would say the fault is on aunty Eudora's side.

It is not made for dropping.

I think Eudora is moving over to the Thunderbird codebase in the near future - I wonder when they'll add this functionality to TBird...
