If giving XY as a gift to friends, how?
Sign up under THEIR name and pay with OUR credit card, for instance? Then email them the registration key?

Well, I guess so (I never bought a XY license myself
).
With shareit, you can enter a "Registration name" that's different from the card holders name.
With paypal, the registration name is made from "first_name" and "last_name". There's another field "payer_business_name" which then could hold your name.
