Problem with Networked Drive Accessibility in XYplorer
Posted: 05 Oct 2015 15:13
Hi,
I am a HUGE fan of XYplorer. I currently have the program installed on 2 Windows PC computers (one still running Windows 7, the other Windows 8.1).
I have a networked external (USB) hard drive on a third computer, that I have successfully "mapped" (through the network) on the other 2 computers - giving the mapped external hard drive folders the same drive letter on each networked computer - e.g. D:\Documents on the external networked drive is mapped to the driver letter "P" on the other 2 computers on the network. This is successful in Windows Explorer (on each computer), but in XYplorer, one computer (the Windows 8.1 PC) looses the connection to the mapped networked drive, whereas on the other (the Windows 7 PC) it is never a problem in XYplorer. I have added the drive letter to the toolbar in XYplorer on each computer, and I checked the XYPlorer , as far as I can tell, "configuration" settings are identical on each computer (unless I am somehow missing something, which could a;ways be the case).
The strange thing is that on the Windows 8.1 computer, in which XYplorer loosed the mapped network drive connection, if I minimize XYplorer, and click "computer", Windows *DOES* show the drive properly mapped and networked, and if I click on the mapped drive letter, it will open the contents- but then I return to XYplorer and click on the drive letter on the toolbar, it gives me the error message "location currently not available". But again, on the Windows 7 computer, it is *ALWAYS* available in XYplorer, when I click on the toolbar drive icon.
Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated, as I just can't figure out what the problem could be, at this point.
Thanks, in advance, for any help or suggestions that might be offered. Hoping this question also has the possibility to help others who might have a similar problem, currently or in the future.
ps- I am using the most recent version of the XYplorer program on both computers, just in case anyone was wondering.
Thanks,
Cfguy
