File context menu problem

I hope someone can help me with this odd problem.
I have searched the forum, and can't find anyone else with the same problem.
I use XY as an (in my opinion) optimized Win XP Explorer, which means minimum clutter, a drive/folder tree to the left and a folder/file window to the right.
The odd thing happens sometimes when I right click a file. I get the context menu which I should have when I right click an empty space in the right window.
Right clicking again usually gives me the right context menu.
When this behaviour occurs, the file double click function also appears unstable, and I sometimes have to double click 2 or 3 times to open a file.
The 2 problems seems to be connected, so if I have the first problem, I also have the second.
I use Win7ult 32bit and XY v14.5.
I know that my XY is not the newest one, but I have not updated because I fear that I will have to re-configure it, and have no other problems than the above mentioned,
and as you can see on my setup I have no use for further features....
Thanks in advance.
