The performance of RegEx appears more consistent and reliable than Boolean or Standard modes.

For example, the following pattern never works.
(*.epub|*.mobi) & !(path:css|html)

2) Hmm, I don't believe that. Your pattern is simply wrong. Those Boolean operators have to be surrounded by spaces:
