XYplorer Beta Club

I have XYplorer 15.40.01 and 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro. XY is set to be my default file manager. All the boxes on the Shell Integration configuration page are set.

I've noticed that some executables in the System32 folder operate differently in shortcuts from XYplorer. Msconfig.exe is an example.

1. If I create a shortcut to c:\windows\system32\msconfig.exe and try to open it with a double-click, that works in File Explorer. When I double-click the same shortcut in XY, I receive a message that the file cannot be reached. See the attachment. (It does however start normally with right-click/open.)

2. If I try to create that same shortcut in the usual way using its Browse button, that works in File Explorer. In XY, the file cannot be selected because it does not appear.

There are a couple of other files like that, but the only one I can remember at the moment is wfs.exe (Windows Fax and Scan).

I don't mind two clicks, but I do wonder what's going on here.

Edited to change File Manager to File Explorer. Blame Microsoft.

Looks like an issue caused by WOW64. See some info here:

As I said, all the boxes on that page are set.

From version 13.30 onwards this issue is handled internally ... the information below is obsolete and just kept for reference.

So you cannot replicate this behavior in recent versions?

I can indeed browse the real System32 folder. And when I go there (using XY as a file manager), I can see the msconfig.exe file.

I tried to reproduce the issue and could not. It works fine if "Configuration | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Show the real System32 directory" is ticked.

So the cause of the problem might be elsewhere. Could you please select that LNK file and open the Meta tab in the Info Panel (F12)? What do you see? (Tip: right-click the tab to copy the info to the clipboard.)

As I said, right-click/open works just fine.

I meant right-click the tab body, there will be a small context menu.

After all I have this file as well:
C:\Windows\System32\msconfig.exe

so I can easily test if your LNK works here.

7-Zip thinks it's an archive and won't zip the file.

I have added the .zip extension and attached the file itself. With a little luck, the forum will accept it.
