Hi,

wouldn't it be cool, if the paths in the catalog items updated automatically whenever I rename a referenced path-item in the tree or list?

*bump*

The paths do update in other tabs.
So, why not in the catalog?

Am I and Stef123 really the only ones who get frustrated by outdated, none-working bookmarks after renaming or reorganizing some folder(s)?

Stef123 doesn't count. So there is currently one person who is in favor of it.

If you'd really try to do it, I would be the second one that supports that wish :)

Am i understanding it right: if i have link to some folder or say txt file in catalog and i rename them, path in catalog would automatically adjust? If yes, surely it sounds as useful thing, but isn't it over-complicated?! As i understand every operation would need to check if items under operation are mentioned in current catalog, to adjust path there.
When i proposed to add ability to re-point thumbs for moved files(thumbs are already created, so only pointing to where files are moved need to be adjusted) - it was said it's complicated, and this one task is ought to be even more.

That's right. And there are other problem as well concerning included Catalogs. "I made a note." here means "I made a note to consider it."

While i'm glad that this feature got added, still it's a pity thumbs remapping is still not in plans. :ninja:

v25.10.0103 - 2023-11-09 20:12
+ Catalog: Added another value to the tweak CatalogFlags (bit field):

Keeps your Catalog in sync with reality.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :biggrin: :appl: :tup:

BTW, if you ever have time and motivation, it would also be nice if also paths to files in the catalog did get updated, whenever such a file is renamed.
But folders are certainly more often affected, that is true. Again, thank you very much.

v25.10.0109 - 2023-11-10 21:31
+ Catalog: The recent update to tweak CatalogFlags now also handles files:
64: Automatically update item paths when files or folders are renamed or moved.
NOTE: This is only done for *single* items being renamed or moved, not for
bundles of items.
Keeps your Catalog in sync with reality.
So fast. Thank you very very much.
This is one of those little things that seem small but have a big positive impact, giving me energy back in life and brighten my days.
:party: :beer: Thank you again.

BTW, just now (with this update) I found out about the other catalog power tweaks.
I now have CatalogFlags=85
This way the catalog is even more amazing than I ever expected it to be. :titter: :biggrin:

; Tweak: 1 = auto-optimize - YES
2 = suppress overlays - DONT CARE ATM
4 = resolve variables in caption - SURE
8 = double-click-action - NOOO
16 = single-click category expand - YUMMY
32 = no drag without CTRL/SHIFT - DONT NEED
64 = update paths on folder rename - HERE COMES THE SUN!!

Super tiny detail about the new 64-label. it not yet reflects the latest addition for files as well.
Super tiny issue that I am not affected by since I know, but others might be in the future. Just making you aware, Don.
Thanks again.
