Folders no longer visible in either pane

Just loaded version 15.20.0300...but the previous version had the same issue. Running Win 7 enterprise, SP1, 64 bit
All of a sudden when I click on a folder in the Tree view I can no longer see the child folders in the pane. If there are 11 child folders all I see is a message that "This view is empty. 11 items are hidden." None of the folders are "hidden" at the OS level and all show up in Windows Explorer. Even if they were hidden, I have the View settings are set to show hidden and system files and folders. This is happening on network and local drives. I've tried toggling several settings and can't figure it out. See attached screenshot.
