Quick copy / move

Copying / moving from one tab to another with the keyboard or via menus takes entirely too much time in XY (compared to a dual paned manager). It would be nice to be able to flag a tab, favorite, or catalog item as a destination folder (maybe show current dst folder in status area) and copy/move files with a single key/button press. This could also be done via assumptions about the current open tabs.

One can use key modifiers to confirm assumptions. For example, let's assume I have two tabs open, A and B. Each is set to a unique directory, focus is on tab A. F5 might bring up a dialog box asking me if I'd like to copy files to the folder specified by tab B (likely a radio, copy to tab, then a dropdown specifying which). Shift F5 forgoes the dialog and copies to tab B without even asking (since there's only one other open tab). As an "advanced" user, I knew what the extended command would do and no confirmation is required.

I'm trying _really_ hard to maintain productivity in XY as compared to dual paned managers but I'm having a hell of a time accomplishing trivial tasks without multiple clicks.

Donald, if you can narrow the gap between XY and the dual paned managers, I'm confident you will win the support of many.

Well, not sure I would completely agree with you here. Anyways, XY has his Move/Copy/Backup To feature that allows you to do such tasks quite easilly (even though I'm personally usually using mouse over keyboard).

It is true that right now the window interface for this feature (which btw has shortcuts: Ctrl+F7, Shift+F7 and Ctrl+Shift+F7) only has an MRU, while using the menu one (either through ctxt menu or menu File) will get you the MRU but also Favorites Folders & Tabs.
But, as it's been said before, the window GUI will be changed and will then also have such quick access, besides the MRU. So it is coming, stay tuned 8)

Also, rumor has it XY could go dual pane one day... ;)

You assume MRU has been defined. Try performing these operations from the keyboard prior to defining a path.

How is digging through 3 nested menus quick? How is this accomplished easily with the keyboard?

Sorry.. but with other managers, I can perform this operation with a single keystroke. In XY, it's not easily done with the keyboard at all. With the mouse, it's a few clicks in.

What GUI changes are you referencing?

Well, for now you have to type it true, but when Favorites & Tabs will be available you won't have, just like with menus now.
At least you don't have to type full paths on your own, since you have autocomplete here. ;) (Also, remember you can get the path copied to clipboard, with Ctrl+P while Tree has focus, or List with no selected items)

hmm.. it's just like browsing menus, so using the arrow keys. But yes, you'll need a couple to go down to the tabs list for example.

Well, I don't have any specifics, but its been discussed before (things such as having Favs & Tabs here, etc), and "enhanced Move/Copy/Backup To" is on the roadmap
