What can scripting do to build a catalog?
I only found "catalogload", which merely include/load an existing one.

Yeah, since there's already catalogreport() which can be used to return catalog in plaintext, there could be a... catalogset() for example.
Aside from that,
the catalog dat file is in a complex binary format not intended for mere humans to understand. But Don has plans to relocate it to readability.
