Toolbar for applications

To my knowledge, category is a kind of container of pointers to any kind of objects: folders, files, and execution files. Being user-friendly unlike other competitors, the category in XY is really attractive. The only problem with category is the limited vertical space for it although we can scroll the category entries.
My wish is a toolbar for applications as found in some of XY's competitors. Applications have their own icons, so there is no need for textual descriptions which waste precious spaces. On the otherhand, if we place the application pointers within the category, they simply eat up our precious vertical space.
Besides, the toolbar icon size is a bit small to my middle-aged eyes.

So a larger option would be very much appreciated. Not that big, just about one and a half times the default size.

My eyes are not that young either

...likely not the oldest on here...being just a bit over fifty...but I'm able to see the exsiting toolbar icons just fine...and besides, when one hovers over icon, a tooltip pops up with text desc of it...but that's not to say that having a larger icon set as option for those with visual "issues" wouldn't be a good thing!
BTW, when I'm using a PC at library and they have screen resolution at 800x600, when I'm able to based on security/setup, I always bump it to 1024x768 at least as anything less is just TOO big and I can't see enough on screen.

Yes, probably its size cause no problem to our eyes. But I noticed that XY's size of button is about 70 % of that of most softwares. So, usually I don't feel so comfortable when hovering over the buttons in XY. Anyway, this is just a wish, not so critical to me.
But when it comes to the issue of the toolbar for applications, I strongly wish to have the feature available in the near future.

It is 16 pixels. That has been the standard for toolbar small icons everywhere. I thought. Wrong?

Oops! Standard?

I was a bit scared
You should be right, I suppose. But anyway, The situation is as I described... After choosing small icon option in WE, I can see its button size is also a bit larger than that of XY. All in all, you gave me the smallest buttons of all tools I have in my PC.

Okay, the buttons are smaller, but the icons are the same!
Problem is that the height of the toolbar has to match the height of the tab headers and of the address bar, else my layout breaks...
