Windows Explorer allows you to do this through Properties > Customize > Folder pictures. Is there a way to get this functionality in XYplorer?

Christen it "folder", the chosen one. Folder.jpg or folder.png

Thanks, I was aware of that. I was hoping that there would be a way to do so without having to rename an existing image file.

This is done via desktop.ini. I could add awareness of this. Later.

Happens in next beta. 8)

PS: This is how desktop.ini looks in Win8.1. The custom folder thumbnail is defined at key "Logo" in section "ViewState":

Code: Select all

[ViewState]
Mode=
Vid=
FolderType=Generic
Logo=E:\Test\thumbs\icons as thumbs\PNG\Icon_55.ico
Unlikely that it is the same in Win7, Vista, XP. Do you have any information for me?

Win7 X64: just for test a desktop.ini

Code: Select all

[ViewState]
Mode=
Vid=
FolderType=Pictures
Logo=D:\Multimedia\Fotos Test\OSM X25 Wichlinghausen\DSC_4030.JPG

Don, so in the next beta, if XY finds the desktop.ini file in a image folder and it has the Logo=assigned to an image, XY will use that as the folder thumbnail over the "folder.jpg" residing in the folder (i.e., the desktop.ini will take precedence over the folder.jpg)?

Why would you define a logo and then don't use it?

Well, I might like assigned CFI's better. :whistle:
So you might just give CFIs higher priority.

Aren't we talking about thumbnails here, not icons? If you don't want folder thumbnails turn them off.
