Full row select in tree view (like in Windows Explorer)

Well I'm going to expose another feature non found in any other file manager than... Windows Explorer! Well, it seems incredible but one of the most useful thigs I found Windows Explorer is its ability to select folders in the tree view, only clicking anywhere in the row of the folder! It seep up a lot expanding the folders and the reason I stuck with this WE...
It's incredible that there are lots of alternatives to WE like yours and fall in no consideration about this basic things that makes the rival feel better than your product. If file management is important to speed I think you could do advanced speed improvements, but take care of the basic ones like this first! Thanks.

Did not know it (I do not use WE). It is very easy to do and I see no draw backs at the moment. Although I would not do it for right-mouse click as WE does.

Never thought about it that much or relied on this in XY, but after checking it out, realized that I'd been doing it in WE on occasion without thinking about it and thus I'd be in favor of it.

Didn't know it either, but if you add this PLEASE make it optional. Even if it don't do it on right-click (or we'd loose a very useful ctxt menu) I do use this click on blank area quite often. For example, to get the Tree focused, or dbl-click to get the focused item back into view!

Definitely an option - I just checked with WE and I find it most annoying. Like
jacky I use the blank area to move focus to the tree (on the odd occasions that I do use the mouse).

Yep, I had those thoughts, too, in the meantime. So it will be optional.

I find it annoying, too, and will certainly not used it myself.
So... let's see if there's a second one who does like it! (2nd fool rule)

Agree with Jacky and Gandolf - can't see any real benefit to this, but re. Gandolfs comment re. Mouse Focus (I assume you mean for scolling) - you may want to check out Katmouse as it allows automatic focus (for scrolling) on the area beneath the mouse pointer.
I saw it as a relatively minor upgrade but now cannot live without it (it also allows for application specific scroll wheel settings).
Check it out at -

So we have jacky and Gandolf and phatmankerr who wouldn't use it..
OP (shader) definitely would use it...
I'd use it if available, since I've been doing so without thinking about it...
So making it optional would make all happy, right?
And does that make me 2nd "fool"?

Thanks for the pointer, it looks an interesting utility.

well, I cant understand why you would like to get focus in tree view. I only can think you want it to be able to mouse scroll right? Well, in XY it's ready implemented. I mean, when I move the wheell behind tree view, it scroolls, without making any click to focus. So, making click in the blank area doesnt have sense, isnt it?

For example, I use to click the blank area to pop down any popped up menus. Or to activate the app, if another app is in the foreground. Or double-click to move selected item into view.

Well, I think the two first examples would be equally doable with this feature. About the last one, well, I see that a feature like this is not context dependent, so you could easily do a button, hotkey that can supply this need in case this functionality is enabled.
Instead, selecting the folder in a row based manner would justify a real context functionality nowhere replaceable in the program, only in the tree view. I mean, it makes more sense to add a feature that cannot be done in another manner than to prefer another that can be implemented in other ways. [/quote]
