Drag & Drop onto a .zip file does not work

Post by InTheMood »

When I drag and drop a file onto a .zip file, in the same pane or the opposite pane, I get an error message: "Shell drop failed."
When I do the same thing in Windows Explorer, the dropped file gets added to the .zip file archive.

I have the same problem. I then tried right-clicking and dragging, and was able to drop it into the zip file. However, in some cases it would corrupt the zip file, so now I just open the zip with 7-zip, add the file, and close it. A lot more hassle, but it's much better than having a corrupt zip file.

I use the above "workaround" for .zip and .rar archives. Alternatively I use xproper2_lite which handles this beautifully.

It would be nice if it were fixed to work properly in XY.

Do we need to file a formal request for support for this bug?
