How to select (and drag) multiple files?

New user. Retired geek. Created a post. Didn't want to be the only ingrate. So, I deleted it.
Is there a way to send it to admin without a "public" post? I may be off base.

Send him a private message.
Click this link.
Or you could just send him an email. The address is in XYplorer's Help menu -> About...

Hello and welcome to the club!

It is my experience that this
never happens. There is always someone else with the same or at least a similar question.
Often great features and improvements come out of the discussions that follow someone questioning how XY behaves.
A fresh look can be quite helpful.

Thanks, guys, for the responses. Let me first request additional info that may help me determine if my frustration is warranted before I bother the boss.
I only sought out a Windows 7 Explorer replacement because I often move large blocks of files between directories already containing many files. The file types vary, but I typically sort and “block select" by file type.
Windows 7 Explorer was inadequate because it intermittently jumps to the top of the source directory forcing me to waste tons of time scrolling back down. An extremely frustrating bug MS won’t admit to - or fix.
XYplorer came so highly touted as the hands-down leader in file Management that I plopped down my $80.00 after only reviewing 13 competitors over three days – normally, I’d spend weeks.
In detail view with dual panes, I cannot ascertain any way to "block select" source files. I consider this basic functionality of any file manager.
To add insult to injury, when I left-click (select) on a file icon, instead of selecting the file, I typically get a “window preview” that moves to the left as I attempt to drag the file into the right pane (destination directory). No move takes place. (These happen to be .GIF files, if that matters.) Honestly, this is more frustrating than the grief Bill Gates has been dishing out.
If I can discover a consistent and easy process to move blocks of files between directories in XYplorer, it would go a long way toward making me feel better about the semi-blind faith I instilled prior to the purchase.

Can you clarify what you mean by block select? Perhaps with an screenshot (I use the free Greenshot for screen capture) or screencast (Jing, free)?

Block Select W7E-small.jpg
Block Select: Selecting multiple files with minimal keystrokes. Accomplished in Explorer by selecting top or bottom desired file, then selecting the other end of the "block" while holding down the shift key (see wish list). Drag all selected files to destination directory - done. My screen shot lost color. The selected files were colored blue. Rob

You can do the same in XY too (click, SHIFT+click).
However, in XY, you have to drag by clicking the filename, instead of the icons.
pressing down on the icon of previewable files pops up a preview, it's feature of XY: Mouse-Down-Blow-Up.

Yeah you should be able to do block select just like SammaySarkar had said with Shift and Click. Also, just in case you wanted to have those check boxes as well, Tools > Customize List > Checkbox Selection.

By factory default there is also a toolbar button to toggle the checkboxes.

Oh! You changed the default toolbar again? Seems like a very good choices of default toolbar buttons this time.
Anyway, now I have an excuse to play around with Greenshot.

As has been pointed out there's the
Checkbox Selections, and RegMos' video is great at showing the alternatives in
Sticky Selections,
Line Number Selection, and
Selection Filters.
One thing surprisingly not yet mentioned, as it's rather popular, is the
Type Stats and Filter feature. It makes it easy to filter or select items by their extensions:

Clicking items will filter the list. Holding Ctrl when clicking will select files. Holding Shift when clicking will remove files from the selection.
Also, as SammaySarker said, the popup when you click on the icon is actually a feature called
Mouse Down Blow Up - you can disable it by unchecking
Configuration > Preview > Mouse Down Blow Up > On Thumbnails and Icons > On file icons as well:

There's tons of additional information about the mentioned features on the
Features page - just find them in the table and start going through the corresponding blue arrows or videos.

OMG! Windows Explorer has BRAINWASHED me so much. My habit is to NEVER click on filenames because I end up "editing" the filename instead of selecting it (another stupid GUI Explorer technique). Who needs renaming files to be that darn convenient? I'd much prefer to right click and select a menu option to rename a file. Where does Gates get his end-user testers? Or, does he even bother with end-user testing and reviews - I think not.
Anyway, Thank you all for the solutions you provided. I'm off and running now and looking forward to discovering how powerful and (dare I say) logical XYplorer is.
Be blessed,
Rob

You can turn this off in XY:
Tools | Customize List | Rename On Slow Double-Click

A somewhat similar question (which i cannot find an answer to in the forum)
I select multiple files (as source files i want to copy to another directory in another XY window)
I click and drag the selected group of files, but it reverts back to just selecting the file where my mouse was for the start of the drag operation.
I have to copy and paste the group to be successful.
Is there a way to drag a group of files. (i tried right click also, which intuitively would give me a choice of COPY or MOVE).
Second question, somewhat related.
WHen i have a single file selected to drag into an app (for opening or processing), it requires a second attempt to be successful. The first click and drag does nothing.
How to click and drag a single file into an app.
I think there's something basic i'm not understanding about XY.
Thank you!
