Hello
Even if XYplorer is such a powerfull tool, I'm still missing some facilities I had in Window Explrer
Maybe some are already implemented but I did now find them...
1. A right click on a file to "open containing folder"
2. Being able to start the search with a mouse click
3. When I search for folders, find a few of them, open one of them by double clicking on it to see what it countains, how do I go back to the list of the folders previously found ?
Thanks for your help
Ysl

Hey,

I'm assuming you mean from search results, since otherwise you already are in the containing folder obviously, so that can be done yeah: right click a file and you'll get 3 ways of doing so:
- Go to Focused Item (Ctrl+Left)
- Go to Focused Item in New Tab
- Open Containing Folder in New Background Tab
BTW little note for Don: if those could be added on the ctxt menu on a blank area on List (for Finding Tab), along with Info to Clipboard & Rename Special, that'd be cool

hmm.. Not sure what you mean by that... When you're in the Find Files tab on Panel, you can just click on "Find now" to start the search...

That can be done of course. If you're Search Results tab is locked then it will happen automatically, since a new tab would be opened on dbl-click (or if you have set one the default tab would be use), if not you have to ask for a new tab. To do so, you got the "Go to Focused Item in New Tab" option or you can simply hold Shift while double-clicking.
One you're done, simply reactivate your SR tab to get the back

My mistake, my XYplorer window is very reduced because of the space I have on the screen and the "find now" was out of view !!!

I'd also have you look at the XY Help and/or wiki for Keyboard Shortcuts, where F3 is defined as "Find Now: start File Find operation with the current parameter settings in current folder", and Shift+F3 is "Repeat Last Find Files"...so it's not mouse, but can be a quick way to re/start a search.

There's also a toolbar button for Find Now.

Are you really running at 640×480?!?! Wow, not met someone like that for over 10 years!
However, might it be worth having either a scroll bar, or at lest some kind of indicator that there is more "off window" when someone has their XY window so small that not everything in the properties/search panel is visible?

Or have the Find buttons left of the Find tabs? Hmm, naah, after > 7 years I'm too used to it as it is.

On the right makes sense, but an indicator/scroll bar would be sensible

I'm on 1600*1200 but have applications on the left of the screen and XYplorer on the right....so for me a "find now" on the left of XYplorer would be welcome...
Also, how do I lock a Tab ? Because I still did not find how to go back to the list of the found folders after I have gone into one of them (I've found F7 to do it with the keyboard but how with the mouse ?)
Thanks to all !!

In that case, I'd likely either use the Find toolbar icon or F3 keyboard shortcut...as the icon can be put wherever you want left/right on toolbar.

To have the search results locked to their own tab, goto Info Panel/Find Files tab/Options tab and select "Search Results tab". It will be auto-locked on creation.
Generally, to lock a tab press Ctrl+L.
