Distributed Copying

While XYplorer is vastly superior to my previous file manager, there is one small feature that I miss. I thought I could setup a catalog to do it; but, so far I have been unsuccessful. The feature was called the "Stack" and was used for distributed file copying and moving. You could browse around and drag files from the list pane and dropped them into the Stack just like a catalog. Then you navigate to a new location and drag files from the stack and dropped them into the list pane . I found this to be a very quick way to copy files from multiple source locations and/or to multiple target locations. Another advantage was that the combined file list could be reviewed before making the transfer.

I could not find a way to drag files from a catalog. After thinking about it, I realized that it could be a problem if the wrong catalog was accidentally dragged (especially if it is large). I don't think I would like to have all catalogs dragable. My wish is to have a checkbox in the catalog properties window that enables dragging from that catalog to the list pane. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add this but it would be great if you could. This could be a simple feature or more involved. Here are some more capabilities that could be added:

- Individual files are transferred by dragging the file.
- All files are transferred by dragging the catalog header.
- A clear stack command
- A clear item command
- The default is copy and holding down the <shift> while dragging will move items.
- Choice of copy or move as default.
- If default is copy, hold down the <shift> while dragging to move items.
- If default is move, hold down the <ctrl> while dragging to copy items.
- Works with folders and subfolders
- Checkbox selection (useful for multiple target locations).
- Multiple files could be selected by using <ctrl> or <shift> keys.

Paper Folders are your friend:

So, in XY you can have as many "Stacks" as you want. :)

Yeah don't use Selection Store since I don't really update it anymore (yusef88 starts smacking Enternal) :(

Anyway yes Paper Folders are you best friend. They work great!

Also, use http://xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12101 (shameless promotion) since it adds more usability to the paper folders!

...and don't forget to check out SammaySarkar's XYcollector here. http://xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php? ... or#p112611

Edit: As Sammay pointed out below the XYcollector script was actually started by serendipity way back in 2008 as Collect and Paste.

Thanks for directing me to "Paper Folders". I realize that I should be in the "Questions & Answers" section not here. XYplorer has so many power features that I overlooked some of them. A great problem to have.
