Suddenly have a single folder with a light grey highlight

Opened XY today to find my d:\Multimedia folder has what appears to be an odd light grey highlight box around it. If I expand the folder, the highlight box covers all of the expanded folders.

I went up to Tools-Customize Tree and saw that the Apply Highlighting was on. I turned it off and problem solved.

But - why is this single folder the only one with highlights? If I turn Apply Highlighting back on - no other folder gets a highlight regardless of what I do.

Did I apply something to the Multimedia folder somewhere that is causing it to "highlight"?

You've marked it as a BOXED BRANCH. It highlights a branch (folder) and all sublocations.
Maybe you'd inadvertently pressed the keyboard shortcut for marking it as such. (default is CTRL+ALT+B)

In any case, revert back:
Select the topmost folder of the colored branch and...
key the shortcut again Or select Main Menu->Favorites->Toggle Boxed Branch

That was it. Awesome. Thanks!
