Lifetime lic not follow chg to installer version

Greetings: I began my XYp relationship when I thought I would make extensive use of it on a USB stick, so I licensed my portable installation. Now I find myself having never used it away from my desktop so my recent upgrade to 14.50.200 took the form of the installer version.
As I did notice the recommendation to upgrade over existing installations, being fearful of losing my license data I did not do that but merely installed the upgrade and wound up with the 30-day trial! I tryed copying my portable \XYplorer onstallation over that trial version assuming the incoming files would displace the new files including carrying the lic data with it. No luck, even after a system restart. Next try was to delete the new install completely including the portion in "Program Files (86)" as well as the XYplorer folder and subs at <user>\App Data\Roaming\XYplorer. Then I again copied my \XYplorer folder to <user>\App Data\Roaming\, verified that it worked there via a custom shortcut AND still showed the lic via "About XYplorer", followed by a new installation of the upgrade. Trial version still appeared.
I'm sure that I'm close, but no cigar! What am I forgetting to do?
