How about a Favorites bar. I am pretty sure someone has wanted this one.

If you can manage to accept a vertical approach, it's already there. Just use a Catalog dedicated to your favorites.

I like the vertical Catalog dedicated to your favorites, I have a very elaborate setup, however, it would be nice to have the really frequent favorites one click horizontal overhead option. just as an option. The Catalog will do, it works beautifully.

You know, that the standard favorites TB works with just one mouse click as well?
Just do a left "mouseDown" (aka left click) to open the menu, keep it pressed while navigating to the target entry and trigger the fav just with "mouseUp" (with CTB this click pattern can be configured and is always indicated by a little overlayed down arrow).

But yes, though it's almost as quick it's not a dedicated favorites bar.

Thanks for this! I didn't know about the Favorites catalog.

When I add a new favorite folder, how do I refresh the current Favorites catalog to include this new folder? I've tried restarting XY but that doesn't seem to refresh the catalog...

Manually, there's no native auto-update yet, unfortunately. See my question here and Don's reply. Of course, I would have made a script if there's proper SC support for it.
