Saving Custom Layout in Branch View

Is there a way to always use the same Custom Layout every time I choose Branch View? I can re-load a saved Custom Layout, but I would like it to be the default for Branch View. Also, saved Custom Layouts do not seem to remember the sorting. Can default sorting also be saved for Branch View?

You mean Column Layout? No, not really. You have two options currently, either inherit the columns from the normal Browse mode, or use the columns from Find Mode. This is controlled here:
Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Find Files | Search results inherit current columns
The default sorting is by Path if you tick this:
Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Branch View | Default to tree-like sort order
PS: You could use a script that turns on Branch View and loads a particular Column Layout and sort order.

I edit the [ListFind] section of the tabset ini files.
