Stay "in" a tab when in sub folders of that tab

I have a default tab assigned with a home to go to all the places that I don't have locked tabs assigned. It's my wandering tab or I call it my "Roaming" tab. I like that setup, but I would like it much better if I wandered into a sub-folder (e.g., "Grand kids") under a set "locked" tab folder (e.g., Photos) that I would stay within the same "Photos" tab and not be sent over over to my default Roaming Tab. Does that make sense? If I visit any sub-folders under the main folder tab, in this particular case, "Photos", I would remain in the same tab such that if I "go back " or I hit home I'm going back or home in the same tab not in the default wandering tab.
Now I realize if I didn't have a "default" and wandered to a sub folder under the main folder tab, it would stay there, but I like the default set up as I do for wandering in places that don't have a tab or subs to a tab. It boils down to having any subs in a locked tab take precedence over the default tab. The option would be something like "Remain in tab if a sub-folder of that tab". I don't believe I can currently get a setup like that, but please let me know if I'm wrong. If not maybe this should be a wish. Thanks,
Ken
