Option "Show system files and folders " resets list view

I just experienced this strange behavior:
When I switch on or off the option in the configuration dialog to show system files and folders then all current file list settings are lost: Columns (visibility, order, size, individual config like size unit, etc.) including line numbers, row selection mode and so on.
But this also happened some hours ago when I tested other configuration options so maybe it's not only affected by this single option.

Hm, cannot confirm. Nothing like that is happening here.

do settings get saved to xyplorer.ini?
Okay, it's due to tabset settings. Snooping around more...

First click main menu->Tabsets-> Open. Note the bold items.
goto <xydata>\panes\ from the addressbar.
there will be folders with the bold items' names.
Go into each of them, open all pane.ini files and empty the value of Sort= under [ListBrowse]. (if there are folders named "t", go into those too and do the same)
Save and Restart.
I think this fixes the problem.
And Don, shouldn't there be easier ways to edit the tabsets?

I don't follow you. What has this to do with tabsets?

Frankly, I don't know. But I had the same problem, and editing the pane.ini as said solved it.
And then I thought there should be some easier ways to edit the tabset ini's, as there is to edit the main XYplorer.ini.

Hm, interesting.
A while back I had similar problems, column settings didn't stick. Chalked it up to my lack of understanding of the workings behind the scenes. Like SammaySarkar I figured it probably had to do with Tabsets that override, but had no time to check into that. Deleted them and started over and that solved it.
Then, more recently, it occured again, and this time I did consult the help file (that's why my memory of "workspaces" was still fresh when I pointed it out in Layouts/Arrangements) - but again had to put it off, not enough info to figure it out.
So what does actually go on there, backstage in those panes subfolders? What's the purpose of having yet another level of t-subfolders inside my named ones? Can someone give me the low-down or point me to resources?

AFAICG (as far as I can gather

),
Tabset_name\pane.ini is the default settings of the tabset.
Tabset_name\t\pane.ini is the modified\current settings of the tabset. This is only created if the tabset is changed from default.
In either case, the pane.inis hold some general list settings (browse\find\recycler\network\drive mode) for the tabset --- such as sort, visible columns etc --- , and also the definitions and history of each tab.
The various
tab_#.ini are apparently just find file settings for each tab
, don't have these ini right now, so can't say for sure.
EDIT: some related info from the manual:
Keep pane data private
Check it if you don't want share history and tab data with other configurations. If unchecked then history and tab data are read from and written to <xydata>\Panes\1 and <xydata>\Panes\2

Thanks for shedding some light onto this.
You're right with the t-subfolders, another piece that falls into place in the tabset puzzle.
