Side-aware catalog

Encouraged by the prospect of getting another navigation column (http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11733) I am aiming even higher: Catalog columns on both sides (left AND right edge) that control the list view of their respective side.
No longer would it be necessary to first activate a side, then click in the catalog, then drill down to another place in the catalog to set up the other side. Navigating the dual pane would become a total no-brainer. No matter what side is active, you simply click the catalog for that side, exactly the visual way our human systems are wired.
What's more, the new catalog features (great stuff, BTW) would allow really fast workflows (CAS in the left catalog, Favorites in the right, etc), you could open a catalog for a specific drive on one side, or drill down to a different branch on one side - and still use the other side with its own catalog that still shows the relevant drill-downs etc.
