Mp3 Preview Question

I've noticed that a few other users have had the same problem, but it hasn't been brought up in a while.

I'm currently running the latest version 14.00, and I'm using Xyplorer to preview my audio file collection.

Most of the time, it works flawlessly, but sometimes it refuses to play an audio file if there is album art attached to it. I only see the album art thumbnail, and a notification to the side saying "preview created by the shell".

Is there any way to fix this so that I can preview audio, or do I have to completely strip the album art from the files?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi and welcome!

If the album art thumbnail is shown instead of the audio preview it means that the audio preview failed for some reason. I also have a file here with this behavior. I cannot really explain it. Probably the embedded album art itself is causing the problem. You know, XY does not render audio previews itself but passes the job on to the system. And the system is not very clear about reasons of failure. It just returns "Error". :|

Hi, gavanbruderer, you can try installing a codec pack.

Not only is the software great, the support by Don is even better! It's BY far the best I've seen! That's why we adore him so much here...

I couldn't agree more. Never have I come upon anything that even remotely comes close to this forum. This feels like a 24/7 hotline. Talk may be cheap elsewhere, but Don actually delivers.

Let me extend these kudos to the users around here as well. Confirming issues, offering workarounds and scripts and tweaks and goodies...
