confused about Undo

I am a new user of XYplorer (version 14.00.0100 on Windows 7 64-bit). I was working on a file, deleted a few lines, and saved the file. I closed XYplorer, then re-opened it, highlighted the filename, and clicked on the Undo icon in the XYplorer toolbar. Instead of offering to undo the change I had made a few minutes earlier, XYp asked me whether I wanted to undo a copy operation I had performed 22 hours earlier. I don't understand why it didn't offer to undo the change I had made to a different file much more recently. I have undo enabled, and I do not have "use custom copy" enabled.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Juanita,

Welcome to the club. XY only offers to undo/redo what it has done/undone.

Deleting lines in a file or downloading a file from internet or even copying a file from one location to other using any other software isn't tracked by XYplorer and hence it didn't offer you to undo that.

Usually, the software that you used would have offered you to undo it. Alas, most softwares wouldn't allow you to undo something after it was closed.

Nerdweed, thanks very much for your quick and helpful reply. What you say makes good sense, and it also tells me that
I can revise my Configurations, since I won't need anything like 100 possible undo operations.

Again, many thanks!

XYplorer does allow you to undo/redo even after it was closed. It can even undo/redo on different computers if you had renamed /copied something on a pen drive that you ran it from. You may want to keep the 100 for XY.

You can read here - http://xyplorer.com/release_8.60.htm#actionlog

P.S regarding undo/redo - there are different things that come into a picture. A user's workflow can be of n different combinations and hence may not always be possible for undo/redo.

Nerdweed, many thanks for this additional information, including the description of the Action Log.
