Currently my tabs are at the top of the window. Is there any way to put them at the bottom? In Directory Opus you can choose.

No, Tab bar is always in the Top. You can make a wish to Don (developer) but I doubt he will see it as useful

You don't have to be a paid user to get things acted upon by Don -but- be aware there are some design ideas that he will never change (if he doesn't like it) and that might be one of them...so just be aware, ok?

This could be scripted. Let us know if that's a solution for you.

Just got myself the lifetime licence, so you’ll probably be seeing more of me here in the days to come...



How would I go about scripting this? I’m no coder, but know my way around AutoHotkey, a little.

Start opening the attached file with notepad or variant;

copy the code into "scripting > run script...", then press OK to have your tabs switched from pane 1 to pane 2 and vice-versa.

There's a number of better options you can use this code with, mainly Custom Toolbar Buttons (CTBs) and User > Manage Commands > Run Script (aka User Defined Commands or UDCs). Go for them. More info: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5750

Thanks for the script, which works. However, it doesn’t do what I am trying to achieve.

The script switches the top and bottom panes.

What I am trying to do is display the tabs (for both panes) at the bottom of each pane, rather than at the top, like they are now. Like this:



For some reason I find it more intuitive to always look down for a tab's name, rather than up.

I guess I know what you're after. For the very same reason I was enthusiastic about Opera (in its good old times) and have now adapted FF the same way with TabMixPlus.

I'm with you here with regard to the published - and unpublished, of course - road map.

But how about using the left/right/vertical screen estates of modern widescreens better? Well, the tabs aren't my primary concern. But having the tree and catalog pane besides each other on the left, or the info panel or search tab on the right is something I "dream about" since I got my current screen.
Indeed, I think this realm offers XY another great opportunity to shine once again.
