Default file manager issue

In Win7, if I set XY as the default file manager in Config > Shell Integration and then try to open a folder, I get this "Application not found" error message. If I uncheck XY as the default file mgr., folders open with no problem. Any idea why? XY doesn't make any changes to the registry, according to the download page, so how does Windows know to use it as the default?

As I understand it, this is the one thing which does make a registry change but it's under user control vs hidden and is, I think, documented as the exception, so the "no changes" is still valid because XY won't make the change by itself or by default and isn't required to have XY function unlike most software.

Do I need to use the installer version vs. the zipped version, or does just checking the box on the Config page do it? I'm trying to figure out how to designate XY as the default and still be able to open folders without getting that error message.

Any type of Xyplorer installation works. Just don't move it.

I haven't moved it. But if I check the Set as default box and then try to open a folder, I get the error message above. If I uncheck the box, I don't. Any other ideas why this might be happening?

In XY, untick

XYplorer in shell context menu (Shell Integration)
XYplorer is default file manager (Shell Integration)

and then tick them again.

All should work now.

Just to be clear... this probably requires accepting the unticking by clicking OK before you open the config, re-enable them, and hit OK again.

Amazing! I'm glad there was a simple solution. Thanks.
