I have 2 wishes...

1) A way to go directly to the selected file, maybe there already is? Sometimes i'm just scrolling down or up in the list, but the selected file is still the one that i need, but just wanted to check the others, then i want to go to the selected file again, but i don't see a right way. For example when a document is previewed within xyplorer, if i click on the up or down key, then the file under or above the original selected file gets selected and previewed, i need a way to just go back to the selected file in the list without anything else to happen (like selecting another file or breaking up the previewing of the selected file)

2) When previewing movies, i want the option that all selected moviefiles will preview automatically when the first selected movie stops, the second selected movie automatically starts, and so on... till the last selected one is previewed.

Greetings,

Steve

1) dbl-click anywhere in the empty space of the list view (will however unselect any selections; if you/anyone has a better idea... then we could use dbl-click to go upwards...)

2) too special for a file manager

1) yes loose any selection, aka stop any current previewing. Though I really like this one, and I wouldn't like dbl-click to go up so much I think. Besides, its consistent with the Tree behavior (aswell dbl-click put the focused item into view)

2) Dunno.. already been mentionned here: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1014 8)

1) Maybe something with F6?? shft, ctrl or alt?? But there is already ctrl+space right??

2) On one hand the audio/video preview is so damn cool that people can only get tempted to ask for that auto-next option. Infact i would love use it myself. But the problem is users wont stop at that, there will be media player related wishes. Its upto you Don to draw that line, but occasionally you can nudge the line too. 8). i am OK with anything on this one.

1) Ctrl-space unselects the current selected file, so this isn't the good way... i think there should be a new shortcut (maybe shift-space?, by the way, i don't think double clicking for this wouldn't be good) so the list would go automatically back to the selected file, but also keeping the file selected, and keep the information in the properties bar, or keep playing the audio or video file playing while using the function to go back to the selected file, so in short, just a shortcut key to jump to the selected file in the list, without doing anything else.

2) too special for a file manager? well, then the whole previewing thing is too special for a file manager, also the possibility to change the folume, the loop audio/video setting, fullscreen preview... and so on...
The reason why i ask to automatically preview the next video/audio file has 2 meanings (well the 2 most important ones):

A) To quickly find out what all those small audio/video files are without having to click every time on a lot of very small files, i think of those sound effects or very small video's like animated cursors or something like that (like the standard little avi cursor files within windows, or the small wav files for sound effects)

B) Auto play the next selected file would mean less clicks... and is more user friendly, you can concentrate in viewing and not on clicking next files... xyplorer already behaves good for cleaning up media files, so when you delete a media file, the next one automatically plays, if it's not good, you just have to hit delete and enter, when its good, just click the down cursor to go to the next. But for viewing multiple audio/video files it would be better if xyplayer could autoplay the next selected file.

And, well, i'm not sure about this one, but i gues that an auto play next file function would also mean a little faster previewing the next file

Indeed, i already had that wish, but since that is more then a month ago i wish it again, so Donald knows it's a wish that doesn't fade away ;-) by the way, the preview possibility in xyplorer was the first reason to buy it, and i didn't like it that much because that was the only reason that i buyd it, because i already had total commander, but now i know more of the possibilities in xyplorer, it was money well spend ;-).

1) Try F12 twice. Goes to the selected file without unselecting and works from anywhere else like address bar, tree, catalog.. Thats just a workaround but it works.

2) If speed is your concern then nothing can match 'space bar' and 'down arrow'. Have you tried it?? Only place where auto-next will be handy is when the vids are smaller than 1-2 sec, in which case you can see vids hands-free mode.

Some explaination:
a) Volume bar was added because full sound shocked the XY users when they previewed some videos.
b) Looping was added i guess to see some short videos which ended much too soon and one had to hit space to see it again.
c) Full screen preview doesnt work on videos (only images). Maybe you meant shift+F12 mode.

Sounds like a good idea this. but still there is one issue with auto-next, the user still has to decide if he/she needs the "loop" or "auto-next". Now, I can guess the next wish, loop x times and auto-next.

You may also not want it to auto next, so at the very least it would have to be an option :(

Interestingly, I didn't know about ^Space, seems it just deselects the LAST selected file (if multiple selection).

So anyway, I tried SHIFT+Space and that appears to deselect all but the last file.

Seems something else is needed to toggle all selections. ^+SHIFT+Space? :D That would just toggle on and off all currently selected files ?

Thanks surrender

Hi surrender,

1)The F12 trick works, afcourse you don't see the info panel for a second but at least you are back to the selected file in the list, and when you preview an audio file the audio still plays i gues since the file is not unselected.

2)i tried space bar and down arrow before, but when needed i keep it with only the 'down errow', but i mean, if it is programmed to play the next file i think there even wouldn't be a very short delay, for example, with very small vids or audio files that would play after eachoter without a delay, something like live cd's where there is no delay between the tracks. The only time when there would be a very small delay is when the file needs another codec i suppose.

For the explenation:

yeah, that volume bar already was a wish for me to but i didn't have to say it because Don already worked that out ;-). A mute sound button would also come in handy ;-)

Auto play next file would be more handy then loop for me and many others to i think, but its just harder to code it, because xyplorer have to autoplay the next media file, so should skip for example 2 word documents in the selected files.

And afcourse, it should be an option for the user, and both loop and autoplay next file should be deselected at default, wich the user can change how he/she wants it.

Greetings,

Steve

1) Though F12 works its not an elegant way. maybe alt+space. or?? Not sure.

2) Personally auto-next is not a biggie for me. But I see that it can be useful sometimes.
