UDC Actions in Image Preview Window

Perhaps it would be possible if UDC actions can be applied to images that are currently being previewed in the image preview.
For example:
Set Numpad 7 to "Copy to Desktop"
While previewing images, any images that I want to do future work on, I can just tap Numpad 7 and the image will be copied to Desktop.
The usefulness of this is that you would not need to close down the image preview (or switch focus if the image preview is set to a different monitor) to proceed to do any UDC on it.

Unless I misunderstand you, that's already possible (although hidden).
It's even one of my favorite features of XY's preview!
- Open the preview
- CTRL + Right-Click in the preview
- Enable "Allow custom keyboard shortcuts in preview"
- Have fun!
Not only does this settings enable the use of shortcuts, but it also "focuses" the list in the background, so it knows which file is currently selected/focused. Hence you can do pretty much whatever you want with your scripts (e.g. my main use is to tag pictures while previewing them in slideshows).
Hope this helps,
Flux

Thank you so much! That's exactly it! Both of these functions were what I was looking for!!
Don, why did you not say anything?! I waited 2 weeks and did not hear a thing so I was very convinced it was a feature not yet existed. It was only today when I looked through the detailed changelog after FluxTorpedoe's post that I found it!! Anyways, how come this is still a "tweak"?

Hmm... weird. It's not working. So I have "Copy to Desktop" assigned to Numpad 7. Whenever I pressed it during floating preview, nothing happens. Looking at the Status bar, it said "Numpad 7 pressed outside scope". So I'm guessing it does not support such features? Tagging seems to work fine.
EDIT: Fresh install work so something else in my settings is affecting the function it seems.
EDIT: Okay. Something is REALLY weird going on here. I traced it all the way down to udc.dat being the problem. "Copy to Desktop" is currently set to Numpad 7 and Command ID 1408. There is a Command ID 1400, 1401, 1402, 1403, 1404, 1405, 1407, 1408 (Copy to Desktop). As you can see, Command ID 1406 is nowhere to be found. Anyway, my problem with the "Numpad 7 pressed outside scope" was fixed simply be deleting "Copy to Desktop" and remaking it which now assigned Command ID 1406 that was missing. "Copy to Desktop" is now working perfectly within Floating Preview. What is going on

. Don, if you're interested, I attached the udc.dat to this post.
Curious but "outside of scope" generally means that function is not supported right? For fun, I tried Ctrl+F7 (Copy To...) in the floating preview and it gives me that status.

Uaah, I have so many things on my table. Just let's see if it happens again.

Aaargh it happened again. It seems to take effect after restarting. Steps to reproduce:
1. Clear all UDCs
2. Add a UDC that "Copy to Desktop" and assign a Numpad 0 Keyboard shortcut to it.
3. In the floating preview window, test the UDC command with Numpad 0. It should work.
4. Save all settings.
5. Restart XYplorer
6. Attempt step 3 again and it will fail. Give you the "Numpad 0 pressed outside scope".

Hi'
Looks like a problem of focus (Preview instead of List)...
Quick workaround is to use a UDC script instead of a "default" action:
Working here, plus it has the benefit of being customizable.
Hope this help,
Flux

Ah thanks! That does solve it. However, it's still more of a workaround. Might as well let Don knows that the problem exists so that Don can have a
painful fun time with it. I'm sure he's still waiting for more bugs to appear for the custom columns since it's such a new major feature.

I tried this and cannot reproduce any issue. All works just fine. I suggest we leave it at that.

You're not running away Don! Muahahahahhaha!
Actually, did you make sure you that the Preview window is in focus when you tried the UDC? Because that's the only time you can use the scroll wheel to scroll through images. If you can scroll through images, then you can then try UDC and you will see that it should fail. Also, restarting after you set the UDC is very important (basically save the UDC udc.dat and keyboard shortcuts kv.dat and then restart XYplorer). Otherwise, it will work like expected.
EDIT: Oh, I just realized you changed the script icons. They look nice! Yeah non-related comment.

Sure I tested it with the focus. No way, all is perfect here.
Yep, I love the icons too!

Interesting. It failed on 3 of my computers so far. Will do some more testing to see where the commonality lies.

Of course you have to activate "Allow Custom Keyboard Shortcuts in Preview" ...

Of course I got this turned on lol. Going to set up something that's more consistent so that I can send it directly to you to test heh. After I do more testing haha.

Hello Don! So here's the link that includes a video AND the setup that has everything already setup for you to test it and see if it works on your side. The video is a video of me using that same setup but did not work AFTER a restart of XYplorer.
