Adding graphic ( i.e. album cover) to MP3

Under Rename Special | MP3 Special could a function be incorporated that would add a graphic to the selected files?

What kind of "rename" would that be?

Having thought about this since dashing the post off "rename" was a poor and misleading choice but it is where XY allows for modification of MP3's.
Restating: Could there be a place in the program where a JPG could be added to an MP3(s) as an Extended Tag? As this request may fall under the category of "code bloat", if some gifted scripter could supply code to accomplish this that would be fine - maybe ever better.

Not sure what you mean by "add" in this context.

Will try one more time. The way I do this now is using Mp3tag (another excellent piece of German software engineering by the way). When right clicking on a file and selecting "Extended Tags" a window opens with Metadata on the left and Cover on the right. When using Cover to embed a graphic into the MP3 many Media Players will then show that graphic somewhere in the UI.
The impetus was to be able to accomplish this within XY and not resort to opening another program.

Hmm, I don't think XY is going that way...

Understand.
Everybody knows what a great home run hitter Babe Ruth was. Less well known is that he was also one of the all-time strike out kings. Lesson to be learned: If you don't swing the bat you're never gonna hit the ball!

You can swing and hit a home run every time. Add Mp3tag to the catalog and you will be an all-star!

So isn't cli acceptable?
3rd best shot relies on an old wish, dynamic/'variable variables'.
Will try with what I have.

1. go to
http://www.pretentiousname.com/WmaAlbumArtist/ , then download the WmaAlbumArtist1007.zip file; unpack it and take note on its full path;
2. download the attached script; adjust .exe path "$exe = " to meet step 1;
3. select the target files (having a 'folder.jpg' target file inside <curfolder>) and run the script;
4. done!
Other than this (3rd party involved) and my
Work Session script, the only thing I can think of is having support to displaying custom images into custom columns, which currently is not possible.
If you need more automation (like scanning your whole MP3 folder, looking for the first or the last .jpg found on each folder to be applied to each file), please let me know.
I've stomped into other methods but this little .exe was the easiest I've found to integrate into XY. *Please, let me know how it handles unicode named files* (which seems to be a common issue on those things) and as usual, other supernatural stuff you may encounter.
Better solutions/alternatives are welcome.
Regards,
SF

@ SF - Clearly you have poured much effort end energy into this ingenious solution. Will thread the pieces together and get back to you with the results.
Hopefully all the MP3's will now to able to "show their stuff".

Wow SkyFrontier, I just tried your recommendation. It worked great. I'm curious where you typically run to get your album jpgs? I went to Amazon and entered the album title. I suppose I should be keeping down the pic size to something reasonable to minimize bloat.
I'll probably keep the jpg in each music album folder such that they display when I'm viewing my many music folders one level up in the directory structure.
As you said, when you have a ton of CDs, I suppose the process could probably be streamlined to look in each music folder and use the appropriate jpg in the script.
Thanks,
Ken

I don't.
Having had too much annoyance with changing original stuff vs compatibility problems, I prefer to keep my ripped stuff untouched.
Glad you liked, guys. Thanks to the .exe author, either.
@highend: thanks for the gift.
Have other things to do, but probably will update the script to the enhanced version. It won't be fast as as usual I'll put some error-handling features into it.
Probably with options to what highend suggested.
Who needs this, anyway?
