Yeah: use a file compare software.
Hi, welcome to XY! What you ask is not there. However, I do plan to add a simple
"same or not" function. But to show the differences ... no, I don't think that's the job of a (unbloated) file manager.

For comparing
text files:
When I needed to do this last year for some Perl code, I found and have used the following (from the ReadMe):
ExamDiff(TM) Version 1.6m
Copyright 1997-2005 PrestoSoft(TM).
ExamDiff is a freeware Windows tool for visual file
comparison. It has a number of simple and convenient
features that many users have been asking for a long time
from a file comparison tool.
I'd recommend this program as a solution...I looked at and tried a few others and settled on this one...it was the closest to what I had available back in my mainframe days from IBM...but this is from

another one that I've been very happy with (after trying a bunch of others) is WinMerge
http://winmerge.org/.
It's also free, and has been able to do a more thorough compare than most (if not all) of the others I've tried, and allows easy merging of the two files.
I'd recommend taking a look at it!

Looks like I may need to check out that WinMerge product!
The screen shots look quite promising...but the website looks a bit funky on my IE...there is a total blank area on right side, and what logically should be there is at bottom after the ads...

Blame IE then...

But I agree that the interface looks good. I shall definitely have a look at both WinMerge and ExamDiff. Thanks JC and avsfan

One other tip on WinMerge -- make sure you look at the options under "View" (for example, the WinMerge review on DonationCoder.com didn't have the "Diff Pane" turned on, which shows exactly what's changed on the selected line).
Definitely some nice stuff out there, though!

I'd recommend UltraEdit-32, a comprehensive text editor and Notepad replacement. And includes a great file comparer.
