is there a way to show the metadata of a Flac file? (Mp3's work just fine)
i.e. album name as a column would be nice

no, unlikely. It seems they use their own special file format.

Bummer, I was looking for this too! The FLAC tagging structure is well documented here http://xiph.org/flac/format.html. Any chance you might have time to review this, maybe it would be easier to implement than it appeared?
