Drive letter Association

Guys,
Looking for a little bit of help for something seemingly simple - I've had a look around the board and can't find anything specific to this issue.
I've set up xyplorer portable (full version) the way I want it on a pen drive, but I have requirement to transfer between machines and the pen drive will invariably show up as a different letter on different machines. The problem is that I have a mini tree utilised and have a start path set (I want to go to the same initial folder all the time) and the first tab locked.
When I stick it in a different machine the pen drive will remap to a different letter e.g. pen_drive: (H) and the initial tab will say it cant find the folder that i've set as the start path. However it will open another tab with the correct location but it also alters the mini tree to include pen_drive:(H) below the initial set up, which would normally be pen_drive: (E)
When I plug it back in to my own machine it remembers the minitree structure for (H) as described above and i have to reset it manually.
I've been into the config file and altered the start path from 'pen_drive:(H)\Start Folder' to '..\Start Folder' but it keeps defaulting bach to whichever drive it was recognised as last.
Unfortunately I can't force letters as our IT admins won't let me!
