Coloring style changes in 5.20.0033

Code: Select all
* Tree: changed the coloring style a bit. Now highlighted folders
are displayed without a grey margin around the box anymore.
Instead the current folder now shows a grey margin around the box
if the tree is unfocused. Purpose: spot easier where you are.
* List: changed the coloring style a bit. The focused item, if it is
selected, now shows a grey margin around the box if the list is
unfocused. Purpose: see which selected item is focused even when the
list has no focus currently.
Good thing, but a couple of days late for me.
I meant to delete a file in a folder recently, believing it was selected because it was previewed, but actually the folder was selected in the tree.
Using Shift+Del as I usually do and by not reading the confirmation message before hitting Enter, I got rid of that folder
Certainly taught me a lesson, but everything that improves clarity about selected vs focused items is still welcome, me thinks.

I also definitely LIKE this minor tweak! Spotting those tiny lines around a file/folder sometimes was a challenge, especially with tired eyes! When I first read the change log, I didn't quite follow what you meant, but now that I see it, I understand...
Code: Select all
Instead the current folder now shows a grey margin around the box if the tree is unfocused.
It was the "margin around the box" that was confusing, as it seems to be a grey highlight within the box to me.
One potential conflict might be anyone who has "highlight color" set to that same grey color...and...
Speaking of that, could the highlight color box area be expanded to the right by a few more pixels, so it shows a bit more (as sort of a suffix) when that folder is the one selected or focused?
I'd like to see about double the width of current 'suffix', if possible.

The colors should be different normally since they are two different system shadow colors. If a user merges them intentionally it's his problem.

This is a concatenated example of current highlighting in the three variants possible:
This an (slightly enlarged) example of how I proposed extending the highlights futher to the right to make it more visible when selected or focused:
