Unable to Create New Folders as Win Explorer substitute

UPDATE
I don't have this "New" folder in my Registry, which various web sources say I should have.
But I'm ignorant with Registry settings.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New\

Now when I'm in any application and attempt to execute the "create a new folder" function nothing happens, and in some cases where that capability was formerly a right button command option that option no longer appears.

I'm using win 8.1, in desktop mode.
My XYplorer version is 13.40.0200

Thanks for any help.
Jason

Hi and welcome to the XY forums!

Unfortunately I don't have a solution to your issue but wanted to inform you of some forum proceedures that you need to know...esp the one that we prefer/desire that if nobody has posted a reply in between and you have updates or addendum to a thread post, that you edit that prior post and put the new info at bottom thus avoiding extra posts, ok?

I do so using a "Update/Addendum" heading line in case someone has read post but not answered....

Update: thanks for consolidating the posts - I've deleted the 'empty' one as you can see to clean up remnants.

You mean XYplorer can still create new folder but other application (even Windows Explorer) cannot ?

Yes, XYplorer works as it should as a stand alone application.

The problem is using XYplorer as a complete Windows Explorer replacement.

Press Windows key + R
type: Regedit
press-Enter
Go down HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
Any missing key can be created by right click > New key > Type the name
After reaching that location, right click > New > String Value
Type: Default
then double click that newly created "Default"
paste this: {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}

Thanks, that worked.

One bobble I had: The Default where I needed to add the string was automatically created, I didn't need to enter "Default". The Default + String I entered had no effect, but after I noticed another Default had been automatically created I added the suggested string to that Default and deleted the one I had created and now all is good.

Thanks again.
