Problems with a simple find file or folder name search

I'm continually running into problems using Find Files with my various installations of XYplorer. The options are so complex that a common name search doesn't work.

Today I tried to search for folders containing the a program. So say, for example, it was XYplorer. I want all folder names and all files that contain the name. But if I enter:

Name: XYplorer
Applied Filters: Name checked
Include Subfolders checked

I get no results. Even if I try it with an asterisk after the name. I do have a folder named XYplorer and inside it are several files with that name - like XYplorerHelp.pdf but nothing comes up.

I've also experienced something like this using the same search (as an example):
- folder name XYplorer 4 - comes up in the search
- folder name XYplorer 6 - does not come up in the search

And, my Find Files window always has the same 3 Applied Filters checked. How do I change the default to the way I want to search and save it when I get it working?

This is how I want to search 99.9% of the time. I've never needed most of the complicated search options in there.

Thanks
Charles

For simple name searches you don't need the Find Files interface at all. Simply press F3 to open the "Quick Name Search", enter what you are looking for and press OK. :)

If you get strange find files results it's usually caused by another search criteria that's set in one of the other tabs by mistake.

Wow! I never knew about F3. Thanks.

There must be some other criteria because I noticed that the find gives different results on different installations of XYPlorer. Where would I find the code in the tabs that would set these?

How do the results differ? Maybe one is including subfolders, the other is not?

Check all the sub-tabs in Find Files, whether they have some criteria set you forgot about.
In classic theme the ones that contain any settings have a blue tab header.

Isn't this what Reset Filters is all about?

I think so.
Since I want to keep mine, I never used it so far.

I can confirm Reset Filters does it. I tried it on two PCs and did a standard Name search and it worked. Thanks everyone!
