Auto Refresh dir problem 5.20.0018

When I delete a file in a directory with 100's of files in the directory, the deleted file does not disappear and the Dir doesn't update immediately. Somtimes it never updates until I leave the Dir and come back and other times if I click on other files in the directory the deleted file will then disappear.

I have Autou-refresh checked.

I happen to see this very rarely, too. The Windows change notification system is known to be a bit unreliable.
Or can you reproduce this at will?

I can reproduce this at will. By that I mean it happens all the time. This did not happen with 5.10.0040. I switched back to the 5.10 version. However with 5.10 there is a 1/4-1/2 second delay before the deleted file disappears.

The dir this happens is a sub dir and this sub has 100's of files. the dir above this sub also has 100's of files.

Hm. As there are many ways to delete a file, could you describe exactly how you do it (keyboard, mouse... step by step).

I delete the file by two methods,

(1)highlighting the file , right click on it, go down to "delete" on the right click menu and left click on the delete and then click on "yes" on the "confirm file delete" popup window
.
(2)highlighting the file and then pressing the delete key and then clicking on "yes" on the "confirm file delete" popup window.

Ok. I'll stick with 5.10.0040 until I find a later version of 5.20.00xx that doen't have this bug. Thanks.

Tell me one more thing. Do you have "Suspend refresh during file operations" checked or unchecked?

"Suspend refresh..." is unchecked and "Auto-refresh on file system changes" is checked.

This is on v5.10.0040. I update with the zip file. does v5.20.00xx change these settings?

Just to confirm I have the same problem but it seems to be system specific.

Currently at Work on a Win2k P4 2.8ghz, 512mb and file operations are not immediately refreshed (ever).

At home (WinXP Dual Core 2.6ghz 1GB) - refresh fails occasionally.

I do have 'Suspend Refresh during file operations' ticked on both systems.

Cheers

Andy

Yes, I think so too. I can only say that all works well under XP Prof SP2. The area is a bit underdocumented by MS, and maybe even slightly buggy. At least I hear many developers talking about unreliability here, and I've seen Explorer fail to refresh many many more times than XY.

I have WinXP SP2 Home on a compaq laptop with AMD Sempton 3200 and 1gig of memory.

This problem doesn't happen on v5.10.0040. The problem occurred on v5.20.0018

Hmm, not very long ago. Can you send me your INI file per email?

Nobody else has this issue?

Hi Don;

Yes I have seen this, but it happens very rarely.

As stated above, when it does happen to me, I have to leave the folder and then go back in, to get rid of the file(s).
