Type mismatch error after updating to 5.10.0051

I grabbed the no-install version of 5.10.0051 beta, put it over my previous version, then ran it and configured a few things (mainly colors).
Then, I ran it and got this:
Error 13 (0000000D)
Desc Type mismatch
Dll 0
Proc IniWR
Source XYplorer
Version 5.10.0051
OS WinXP (Service Pack 2)
Date 9/29/2006 1:05:40 PM
After that, when I'd run XY, some of my settings were lost or generally screwed up. The toolbar reverted to default, the tree and catalog size was tiny, that sort of thing.

Didn't happen to me. Same XP SP2. Same no-install 5.10.0051 beta over the top. I changed a few random config settings, including colours, but could not recreate your problem.
Bit after the event but what I would recommend to anybody is to back up the XYplorer.ini file. In the past, after doing stupid things, I've managed to crash XY in such a way that it deletes the INI file, then on next run creates a fresh unregistered default INI. If I'd not backed up previously I'd have lost a ton of tweaks'n'tabs.

Wise words, definitely. Remember: This is BETA land. Normally the XY BETAs are quite usable, but don't get lax!
To quickly back up the INI: menu File|Configuration File|Save copy of configuration as...
Even better, because it will save your catalog, your find templates, your new items, .. absolutely everything, including a working EXE: backup the application folder. Select it in the list and press Ctrl+Shift+D to make a dated copy. (Hey, I should add this shortcut for the tree, too
)

You got the error after closing the configuration dialog, or after closing the app and restarting?

I can reproduce... It happened after I added ">t" to the end of a color filter that initially had "/compressed" in it. So, to reproduce, if even desired at this point, add a color filter with "/compressed >t", save, and restart.
Incidentally, I added the ">t" to see if it would work, and to have it in place for whenever it would eventually work, per this thread:

Hi Don;
This sounded so
nifty that I tried it here. I hi-lited XY's folder in the listview and hit Ctrl-shift-D. It created a folder with the following name:
XYplorer-20051126
Funny thing is, I thought today was 20060929? (system date is set properly so I don't know where it got that particular date from!)

Yes, this is normal behavior as it uses not the current date but the item's last modified date
You could also use Ctrl+S and enter the new name yourself, or select all files&folders in XY's folder and right-drag&drop/Copy Here to New Subfolder. This last one would have in the list of choices for the new subfolder's name some templates with the current date.

Hi Jacky;
But wouldn't the date you did the backup be more appropriate
That Ctrl-shift-D is really nice to do a quick backup and I would use it more often if it did the date of the backup.

Well, in this case yes. But it had been discussed sometime back and
somewhere along thoose lines was voted to go with the Last Modified date

I realize that this thread has morphed a bit into this backup method...
and...I had not used this way of doing a backup before, as I recall...
But given that there is a menu option to "Go to applic folder", which then selects XYplorer in the tree (in most all cases),
why can't Cntl+Shift+D (and Cntl+D also!) operate when used from tree instead of just the list?
Is that what Don meant in his comment (
) about shortcut?
Because it seems that I have to go up to parent, like Program Files, and then find XYplorer in list, select it, and then do shortcut for copy...am I missing something obvious here or is there a chance for improvement in usage ease?

pissant, remember that PM is disabled here...I wish it could be selectively enabled, so a few of us could PM without having the world be able to...there are rare times I'd like to PM you, jacky or others, and I wouldn't mind one if needed...
