Address Bar / Breadcrumb Combo ??

You could make it so the BC can go into "Editor Mode" in the same way that the List Editors can...
When in Editor Mode, it would have the same features as the current "Address Bar" and in BC mode it would behave as breadcrumbs...
(screenshot shows Editor on left and BC on right)
(Note that Total Commander has some version of this, but it's rather clunky.)
Thoughts?

Well, the idea is not new (I have Win7

). But it never really convinced me. So: No, thanks.

If it were possible to have the new breadcrumb bars turn into address bars when you click on empty space to the right (like Explorer), then I could hide the original address bar, have more space for toolbar buttons, and have an address bar for each pane. Which would be awesome.
Ditto. Right after that gets added XY will serve soft ice cream!

LOL. I also have Win 7 (at work), but I use the default explorer so infrequently that I had forgotten it toggles...
I think the toggling idea would be good because it would use up less screen space... But IDK, I guess it's easy enough to just toggle the Address Bar on and off when I need it.

this is what I use for toggling. It may be helpful for you, too.

Thinking about it, in a later version I could optionally add a "breadcrumb state" to the current address bar, similar to Win7 Explorer.

Oh yeah, definitely what I want. BC should replace AB (instead of being part of List as current), and a toggle is nice

I completely support this idea!
I'd love to see the Address Bar & Breadcrumb Bar merged.
Pro:
Less duplication of information
More screen realestate for other items
Cons:
... Can't think of any?

Any updates on this?
Since I only use 1-tab ever, it is really a waste of space for me to have essentially 2 address bars: one address bar and one breadcrumb bar.

+1 With all its imperfections, this is one thing they did right with windows explorer.

Agree.. It
is a waste of space..
But since this is XYplorer we talking about here (and there is an option for everything), I just hide the Address Bar.. ;o)
I only miss it when I want to paste an address there, but I can paste it anywhere in the list and it just works..
