from version 13.0 new features is "Mouse Down Blow Up", but on Configuration | Thumbnails i don't see any setting for this...

And maybe because some long time users are not used to seeing a scrollbar in config like this, they don't notice it as quickly as they should?

you're right!

I've been bit by this in the past and to be honest I feel the appearance of the control group needs to change so that its boundaries are more pronounced.

Some grounded thoughts...
1) Make the control group's background lighter so it is easier to distinguish from the form's background.
2) Make the border darker as it is currently pretty easy to miss.
3) It doesn't look that bad, at least to me, if the group is styled to match the category list. Though it seems my threshold was too forgiving and the fill spilled over onto my toolbar.Some more random ones...
4) It also seems odd that border and scroll bar are not the same height because the title section at the top is not in the scrollable area. Maybe only showing the border around the scrollable part would be better? Though then the category list might need to be the same height?
5) It's likely impossible now that the dialog dynamically resizes to fit the content, but the controls could be arranged such that there is a visible hint that there is more outside of the current view.
6) Wouldn't it be nice if beside the category's big-bold title there was a 32x32 pixel version if its icon?
7) Or, combining the previous two, what if in the bottom right hand corner a very large version of the icon was shown, almost like a watermark, and it was docked to the bottom of the group. Thus if scrolling is required it is likely a portion of the image would be cut off.

Thanks, but hmm, given the effort (most of) these changes would mean, I wonder if they are really necessary? Most users have larger screen anyway, so they never see a scrollbar. So it would be work just for a diminishing group of users.

mmm...i use XY on my HP notebook 13"...1366x768

I use mine on a box with dual 1920x1080 monitors and on my netbook 1024x600 and it's never been an issue.
