It’s no big deal, but consider this scenario if you will:

* I have the info panel showing the properties tab.

* The list view is showing a list of files and the last two entries are hidden below the info panel. I scroll the list view to the bottom entry.

* Then I click on different folder in the tree view (it doesn’t seem to matter which).

* I then click on my folder and the file list has scrolled to the top with the top entry highlighted (I have “Hilight focused row" turned on).

* Now, when I use the scroll wheel to scroll the list (after moving the mouse over the list view), the thumb scrolls but not the list view.

* If I now scroll up and then back down again both the thumb and the list view scrolls. It seems to be just that first time that the issue occurs.

Like I said, no big deal, but I'd like to see XY be the best it can be.

the thumb scrolls ? That part I don't understand.

The thumb is the slider that you can drag to scroll a window and indicates how far through a window's contents you are. The GUI widget (aka the thingy) that sits between the two arrow buttons on a scroll bar.

Does that make sense?

Yes. Only I cannot reproduce it. Again one of those wheel mouse things. I think Ralph suggested to change the mouse driver to something...

Can't reproduce it either and my change suggestion for the mouse settings were only regarding the middle mouse button, 'cos that one troubled me in another app.

I'm using the standard mouse drivers that come with Windows on my Logitech G5 mouse. I've also tried it out on my work PC (a cr@ppy HP something or other, XP Pro SP2, standard mouse driver etc) with the same result.

I've just read over what I wrote and maybe I should clarify something. When I say "scroll the list view to the bottom entry", I should say that "I scroll the list view down to the bottom entry and select the last file". Sorry if that lead you up the garden path a bit.

If I try with a larger number of hidden entries then the first click of rotation of the mouse wheel is ignored, i.e. the list does not move. It's almost as if XY needs to see the wheel movement before it responds to it, and that first step of the rotation is ignored. With only a few hidden entries nothing might appear to happen.

God, so I'm not crazy after all. The *very* same thing has been happening to me too!

I have even bought a new Logitech LX5 Wireless mouse (and of course new drivers) and it does the same thing. So two totally different mice and the effect remains.

This problem only happens in XY.

I have been tracking this problem for a while but it didn't happen 100% of the time. However, when it started to happen, it happened 100%.

Closing XY then running it again, helps somewhat, until it decides to happen again.

I have found another scrolling anomoly. Here are the steps to reproduce as it happened to me today:

* Info panel is visible.

* Folder contains 24 items.

* List view for this folder is currently sized to show only 22 of these.

* Scroll to the bottom of the list and select the last and 2nd last items.

* Move these items to another folder (I use drag and drop here).

* Now the last entry in the list is selected, which is ok. However, it is partially hidden by the IP and no scroll bar is visible.

Seems to be connected with Logitech mice, or?

Anyway, is the problem related to which control has the focus? Some of the descriptions above seem to suggest that it only happens when the tree was last focused and you then wheel the list.

Another question: there are many wheel-scrollable controls in XY. Do you observe this issue only with the main file list?

Yes, so far as I can tell, it only affects the listview. Also, for me, I can get it to happen every time in the following situation:

The listview has a scrollbar. move to a folder where the listview has only a couple of enteries, so there is no scrollbar, then move back to a folder with lots of enteries and a scrollbar. Now if you wheel down one, the thumb moves down but the listview stays at the top. Only by scrolling back up one and then down again will the listview then move down.

And my original mouse is not a Logitech mouse but an A4 Tech mouse. However, as in my orig post, this situation only appears in XY.

The problem is, sometimes it happens as soon as XY is started and sometimes it takes a while for it to start happening, so I don't know what triggers it.

Yeow!!!, whatever you did, undo it!!!

Now, instead of the listview missing a scroll down, it scrolls down and immediately flashes back up where it was (the thumb in the scrollbar also flashes down then back up). I sometimes have to scroll down 6 times to get it to stop flashing and actually scroll down and stay there.

Was better the way it was, at least I only had to scroll down/up/down. Now have to scroll down/down/down/down/etc.
