but we can change the text color. :D
Yep, isn't that enough? The problem: no more space in that configuration section...

No, sorry..not quite enough...as I wrote, there are three distinct types of tabs (as I see it) and currently only two colors...open tab on active pane; open tab on inactive pane; other tabs on both panes...so at least one more color is needed because other tabs can share the same color without any problem.

Re space: we only need one more box under "tab headers" with label of "inactive backgrd" and that would push the 'table' down to right of "show grid" and I don't know why that would be a problem.

Granted, there isn't likely room for both inactive open tab text and background color, but given a choice, I'd definitely prefer background to help avoid catching the eye more.

Is there different text color for active and in-active tab? I think no.

It's only because the active AND the inactive tab has the same color, so i accidentally use the wrong pane. (see above half of my picture)

I think now it's not really necessary to have an option to chose the color for inactive tabs,
...just use an default color that show that it is the current selected but inactive tab.

F.ex. i have made an screen shot with using color C0C0C0 for that issue (see lower half):
iTab_bgcolor_c0c0c0.png
iTab_bgcolor_c0c0c0.png (71.77 KiB) Viewed 2319 times
(sorry for the other colors ;-) i am just make experimentations :D )

What mean other, would this be enough?
The drawback would be for them who just want to use this grey color to highlight the current active tab

true, there isn't.
i was hinting that using a different text color on the inactive tab would be better than a background color, since the BG can only be seen when using the classic interface.

Ok, and since I only use the classic, I'd not have been aware of that...but if it's a choice of just one more color option being added, I guess that allowing me to have a slightly non-black text would be acceptable to make it compatible with all interfaces...or...I then could make my truely active tab text color be rather bright and leave the others black.

This is what my setup looks like, and yes, that yellow stripe should be easy to see, but with my current vision issues, it's not as easy as it once was.

Oh, there is a "yellow stripe" ?
Yes, now i see it too (if i take an closer look  )
But it's not very obviously to me. (if this not where there - it would be the same looking for me)

I am using always the classic mode too, btw.

OK, you'll get a big stripe next time.

Emm, thanks, but is this wanted by others too? Since it's an change that belongs to all classic mode users...

And... did you build yourself in the meantime an opinion about the DP-both-pane-same-color-for-current-tab issue?
Would you like to change this and need suggestions what would be the best way?

.

:) No, it's okay. Looks good. They will like it. They have to.

My eyes like it! Thanks much! It's more noticable but not overkill...

However, I'd still like something to make that non-active "open" tab still be a bit less visible...so here's another simple idea that I'll toss out for critique...what about reverting that tabs font to normal from bold when that pane goes inactive? Since the background color still shows it to be the 'primary' tab of the alternate pane....

Not bad, but bold is bad because it needs readjusting the widths which will result in funny movements.

Ok...hey, I was just trying to think of some alternative ideas...oh well...

But...when you're swapping to other pane anyway, how is that much different from going to another tab when I don't see much width adj happening?

Good point! I was talking rubbish... I'll see whether your idea works...
