jupe wrote: 11 Jun 2024 00:45 In the past you have asked about taking focus from the preview pane etc via AHK, doing things like that too early etc could possibly be a cause, try disabling all you BG ahk scripts, if any.
I tried from another computer and flipping back and forth between pdf and msg does work, my other one has only the BrandsICT previewer installed though and not Outlook at all. So on my current computer w/ the issue, I am suspicious that somehow the Outlook MAPI msg previewer is still getting invoked somehow despite my manual change to call the BrandsICT one in Outlook only since it's same behaviour that it would cause...
Disabled ahk on current computer but no change...

Guess I'll keep troubleshooting or test a clean XYP configuration!
Didn't figure this out before because I had to close all my prevhost.exe in background first.

So I confirmed the issue is that Xyplorer, if you keep
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.File.msg.15\shellex\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f} - set to the Outlook MAPI key of {53BEDF0B-4E5B-4183-8DC9-B844344FA104} , for Explorer to use (because the MAPI preview is admittedly nicer), but then set the extra preference in Xyplorer to the BrandsICT version of msg>{37742665-FA1F-4DA6-9C29-59FDFBA13FD7} --- XYplorer still seems IMO to briefly load the MAPI previewer. You see a little flash of it when you switch to PDF.

I even unchecked the msg preview in Documents, and ensured only my User preference was enabled for the BrandsICT one, and XYplorer still ignored that, even though it 'seems' the BrandsICT one is used in the end, it has to be that the MAPI plugin is still loading briefly at first.

Can we get a fix that if we uncheck the .msg default option in Documents (previewed formats), and set our own default, that the MAPI plugin is then not loaded, given the bugs it has with XYP? Or some extra hidden way to *blacklist* the bad MAPI guid in XYP?

The important reason you want to do above is: XYP has the msg focus fix for BrandsICT previewer--but File Explorer does not!!! And if you use them both, you don't care which one you're using apart from the fact you want it to work right in either program. In File Explorer, that means the MAPI previewer is better, in XYP, the BrandsICT previewer is better.
Was just hoping this could be looked at further perhaps with the blacklist idea? I have confirmed this happens after you close and re-open XYPlorer and if you have the Outlook native MAPI previewer turned on in Registry (for File Explorer), then re-open XYplorer (even when set to use the BrandsICT previewer in Settings) - then the bug we were all getting before occurs with PDFs in preview panes. Then all the preview pane button UIs stop working for PDFs in anything in preview pane - for Foxit, PDF Xchange, etc because XYplorer is still seemingly for some reason calling the Outlook native previewer, right before the BrandsICT previewer.

Right now when this happens, I have to keep switching Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.File.msg.15\shellex\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f} between the BrandsICT guid and the Native Outlook MAPI GUID as a temp workaround until XYPlorer opens, but I'm afraid I'll click the wrong reg key one day.

I guess it's not clear to me why Xyplorer is calling the Outlook native previewer (at least for a second) despite it being set in the Xyplorer preferences to use the BrandsICT previewer instead?
